Visitors arriving on the island of Guernsey will be surprised to find such a variety of tourist attractions to enjoy. Apart from the huge choice of glorious sandy beaches and bays, Guernsey attractions range from orchid fields and millennium tapestries, to ancient prehistoric remains, such as the Le Dehus Dolmen, and almost 48 km / 30 miles of cliff top pathways.
Always extremely popular and filled with countless marine creatures, the Guernsey Aquarium is just one of the many quality tourist attractions to be found within the town of St. Peter Port. Close by are both the German Naval Signals HQ and also the St. James Concert and Assembly Hall, where many lively events take place on a regular basis.

Offering something for all of the family, Guernsey Aquarium contains an array of underwater attractions and is located in La Vallette Tunnel, in St. Peter Port. The Aquarium houses around 50 different displays, ranging from landscaped marine tanks with colourful anemones, to freshwater displays with large groups of fish. Various reptiles are also exhibited here, including frogs, lizards and snakes.

Reputed to be the smallest chapel in existence, the Little Chapel was built in the year of 1914. Inspired by a French basilica in Lourdes, this miniature church is part of the Blanchelande Girls College and known for its unusual facade, being decorated with a large number of pebbles, shells and broken crockery.

The German Naval Signals Headquarters offer a reminder of how the WWII German occupation was responsible for shaping much of the island. Established in St. Peter Port's Collinette Hotel, the Naval Signals HQ played an important part in the war, providing radio communication between Germany and across the Channel Islands. Interactive displays and information about the complex wartime Enigma machines used at Bletchley Park are often of special interest.

Guernsey Tourist Attractions: Lihou Island - L'Eree Headland, Guernsey, Channel Islands, CI
Lihou Island is a scenic and rather tranquil sanctuary, accessible only by a long tidal causeway from the l'Eree headland. Owned by the States of Guernsey since the middle of the 1990s, Lihou Island is home to a wealth of wildlife attractions, along with the vast historical remains of a 12th-century priory. Always be sure to leave the island in plenty of time before the tide is due to arrive and close the causeway, separating the island from the mainland.

Guernsey Tourist Attractions: The Guernsey Tapestry - St. James, College Street, St. Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 2NZ, Channel Islands, CI

Illustrating 1,000 years of island history, the detailed and beautifully embroidered Guernsey Tapestry is a truly remarkable attraction. Comprising no less than ten colourful panels, the Tapestry is housed within the Dorey Centre and was created to celebrate the arrival of the new millennium. Each on the ten panels depict a single century on the island and clearly show any prominent events that took place, starting with the 11th century and finally reaching the 20th century. A gift shop is located onsite at the Guernsey Tapestry, selling a range of souvenirs and postcards.

The St. James Concert and Assembly Hall is where many of the island's biggest events, concerts and theatrical performances of all description are staged. Located in the very centre of St. Peter Port and often referred to as simply St. James, the venue boasts excellent acoustics and can seat audiences of around 600 people. Other attractions include various meeting rooms, and a coffee shop on the first floor, with good views of the town centre.

Guernsey Tourist Attractions: Le Dehus Dolmen - La Rue du Dehus, Vale, Guernsey, Channel Islands, CI
All over Guernsey are a number of truly ancient monuments, showing how Neolithic man once inhabited this island literally thousands of years ago. Le Dehus Dolmen is one such attraction, and although it may first appear as nothing more than a mound of grass, closer investigation will reveal a series of burial chambers and passageways, believed to date back as far as 3500 BC.
